Prune On High With A Tree Pruner

in All Articles,Gardening

Pruning is one of the tasks that is essential in the garden for any gardener hoping to ensure the health of his or her plants. For the majority of the pruning tasks a pair of hand pruners will be sufficient to get the job done. However, there are other plants that will also require regular pruning and these plants or shrubs will have branches that are high off the ground. You will have two options, use a ladder and climb into the tree or figure out a way to do the pruning from the ground.

The tool that you will need to perform your pruning from the safety of the ground is a telescopic tree pruner. These pruners usually come with two options: a cutting blade and a tree saw attachment and both are very effective at cutting back branches of any size.

As opposed to a straight out pole pruner a telescopic tree pruner can be adjusted to whatever height required. This means that the pruner can reach a height of anywhere between two meters to 7 meters by setting the pole to the desired height. If you were to use a pole saw with a seven meter pole to prune at a height of only 3 meters you would find it a very cumbersome tool to use.

The option of adding a pruning saw to the end of these telescopic pruners gives you added versatility and means that it is possible to lop smaller branches as you would with a normal set of hand pruners and it you would also be capable of sawing through large branches as well.

The same maintenance requirements apply to the blades on your telescopic tree pruner as they do on the smaller hand pruners. They should be cleaned thoroughly after each use plus given an oil to ensure the operation of the pulley system is in good working order.

If you are going to keep the growth of your trees in order you should own and make good use of a telescopic tree pruner.
